SNR 0534-69.9 and DEM L 316A two Type Ia supernova remnants in the LMC

We propose to observe two supernova remnants in the Large Magellanic Cloud(LMC), SNR 053469.9 and DEM L 316A, thereby completing the sample of known TypeIa remnants in the LMC observed by XMMNewton. Our goal is to use the Xrayspectra to measure physical conditions in these SNRs. A detailed analysis of theemission from these objects also provides valuable information on their chemicalstructure, which is linked to the explosion mechanism. We will compare theobserved Xray spectra with spectra calculated from hydrodynamical models.
