Code and data for Beatty et al. - Using forest management and species co-occurrence to evaluate the Florida Scrub-Jay as an umbrella species in early successional scrub

We evaluated the potential for the Florida Scrub-Jay (Aphelocoma coerulescens) to act as an umbrella species for bird species in early successional scrub in Ocala National Forest, Florida, USA. We used multi-species occupancy modeling to estimate species occurrence and response to stand characteristics important for forest management (stand age and snag density).
