NRS-20299 | Records of the Shark Menace Advisory Committee

This series of records are those of the Shark Menace Advisory Committee. The Committee was established in response to a number of fatalities caused by shark attacks at New South Wales beaches.The 1934 meeting of the committee stated the terms of reference as:1. Investigate suggested methods of securing the protection of bathers from Shark Attack2. Report to the Minister generally or in respect of any particular beach - a) which of such methods in the committee’s opinion would be the most practicable to adopt; andb) what, in the committee’s opinion, would be the most appropriate means of securing adoption of and of financing the implementation of such methods as recommended. (1) The records include a set of bound typed Committee minutes, departmental and public submissions into the inquiry and the investigation of submissions. Endnote 1.
