Posture similarity index: A method to compare hand postures in synergy space

Twelve right-handed volunteers (six males and six females [Age: 25.5 ± 1.55 (SD) years] participated in the study. The experiment consisted of two types of tasks. The first type of task called the externally constrained postures included 30 postures that involved manipulation of an object. The second type of task called the internally constrained postures, included 70 free hand postures that did not involve object manipulation, hence constrained only by the CNS. Total of 100 postures were performed. At the beginning of each trial, the participant started from the base posture and reached the target posture. Each trial was five seconds long, and was repeated five times. Hence, participants performed a total of 500 (100 postures x 5 trials per posture) trials. There was a rest period of ten seconds between trials. Dataset contains 12 subjects with 500 (.txt) raw files in it. Each file contains 600x96 matrix (RxC) with 600 (120 samples per second x 5 seconds) samples and 96 (i.e. 16 sensors x 6 features) features. Six feature represents position (X, Y, Z) and orientation (Roll, Pitch, Yaw) of each sensor in the space. The dataset (35000 samples = 5 trials x 100 postures x 70 samples per posture) were analysed and used for further results.<br>
