SPICA is a Biodiversity Informatics Integrated System from Colombia which is
based on logical models for Biological Information Management. This is a
scalable web-based tool and custom-made applications for different ecological
/ biological studies. SPICA is being applied by the Sistema de Información del
Chocó Biogeográfico, Instituto de Investigación Ambiental del Pacífico - IIAP,
Instituto de Hidrología, Metereología y Estudios Ambientales - IDEAM, and
Sistema de Estadísticas Forestales de Colombia in order to disseminate and
categorize forests' flora with more than 945 nation-wide species and
specimens datasets. This work has been done with support from Universidad
Nacional in Colombia and Colciencias. SPICA available datasets are:
Specimens Collection and Imaging in Enthomology, Ornithology, Herpethology,
