Primary production, nitrate uptake, particulate and chlorophyll biomass in the Northeast Atlantic during RRS James Cook cruise JC263 in spring 2024

This dataset contains results of a primary productivity study conducted in the NE Atlantic Ocean at ~49°N, 16.4°W during the 2024 spring bloom. Measurements were collected within the context of the annual cruise to the Porcupine Abyssal Plain Sustained Observatory (PAP-SO). Phytoplankton primary production was measured via the 13C method, and nitrate uptake with the 15N method. Particulate biomass concentrations for organic carbon (POC), organic nitrogen (PON), organic phosphorus (POP) and the biominerals biogenic silica (BSi), and particulate inorganic carbon (PIC) are included. The dataset also includes total (GF/F) and size-fractionated chlorophyll concentrations for the >2, >10 and >20 um fractions. Corresponding environmental data (CTD) and nutrient measurements as determined by segmented flow autoanalyser are included.
