Biological activated carbon column loaded with malt bagasse biochar

Wastewater treatment plants are significant sources of pollution for water bodies due to the discharge of effluents containing micropollutants, such as antibiotics. The adsorption with malt bagasse (MB) biochar in fixed-bed columns, as well as in a biological activated carbon (BAC) column, were evaluated as advanced tertiary treatments for the removal of antibiotic levofloxacin (LEV).
