This dataset represents changes in the transcriptome of barley (Hordeum vulgare L., variety Irina) when cultivated under potassium (K) deficiency in presence or absence of silicon (Si). Each set of data represents sequenced mRNA of one biological replicate of either the last fully expanded leaf or roots of plants that were grown in hydroponic culture for 24 days under four different nutrient supplies: K sufficient (2 mM K) in absence of Si (0 mM Si), K sufficient (2 mM K) in presence of Si (1.78 mM Si), K deficient (0.04mM K) in absence of Si (0 mM Si), or K deficient (0.04 mM K) in presence of Si (1.78 mM Si). Sequencing was done for 2×100 bp paired-end reads with 17 million reads in total.
