A recording of the ceremony of Hong Khon Khau (calling the spirit of rice). This was performed by Chaw Sa Myat Chowlik at the home of Deben Chowlik, because the rice harvest of Deben Chowlik in 2001 had not been bountiful. The ceremony consists of reading the book Lik Hong Khon Khau, photographed as SaMyat_HongKhonKhau_p1 to p6. 0'00" preparations; 0'59" prayers: 1'19" reading the manuscript 3 times (one repetition only was photographed complete). The other persons present joined in when the words ma le ma ta khon eui 'come oh spirit' were read; 22'50" offerings are made to the spirit; 26'59" food was prepared for offering to Sa Myat and others; 28'20" eating the food; 28'49" Deben Chowlik giving thanks to Sa Myat & receiving Sa Myat's blessing.
