This dataset is a 1 km-resolution Chinese "DMSP-OLS-like" nighttime light remote sensing dataset with a usable time series spanning from 1992 to 2024. The spatial coverage of this long-term nighttime light remote sensing dataset encompasses mainland China. The processing workflow includes calibrating DMSP-OLS data using the pseudo-invariant pixels method, and addressing the consistency of temporal resolution between DMSP-OLS and SNPP-VIIRS datasets by performing gap filling on the original monthly SNPP-VIIRS data prior to synthesizing annual SNPP-VIIRS products. Furthermore, an improved DMSP-OLS-like dataset covering the period 1992–2024 is developed by combining the calibrated DMSP-OLS data (1992–2013) and the DMSP-OLS-like data converted from SNPP-VIIRS data (2013–2024). The dataset is stored in GeoTIFF format with a spatial resolution of 1 km.
