Here, we propose simultanous SAXS and WAXS experiments to investigate unilamellar vesicles composed of 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) in the presence of the nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) Ibuprofen and the Saponin Glycyrrhizin. The size of the vesicles, thickness of the lipid bilayer, and the molecular distance between the lipid molecules in a monolayer at two different contents of Ibuprofen and a range of glycyrrhizin concentrations will be measured in a phosphate buffer with a physiological pH of 7.4. We will perform the simultanous SAXS and WAXS experiment on the instrument ID02. Measurements will be done at two temperatures, below and above the main phase transition temperature of DMPC (Tm = 23.6 °C).
