Site Photographs and GIS Data from an Archaeological Evaluation of Land at Church Lane, Sway, Hampshire, May 2022

This collection comprises the site photographs and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation of land at Church Lane, Sway, Hampshire, undertaken in May 2022 by Cotswold Archaeology. A total of 16 trenches were excavated. The evaluation recorded two shallow ditches. These were undated artefactually but are on the same alignment as the present field system; they probably represent former boundary/drainage elements within that system. The evaluation also recorded a number of furrows within the site. Associated artefacts were limited, but were all post-medieval in date. This is consistent with LiDAR imagery which indicates the presence of shallow, post-medieval ridge and furrow within the site. A series of modern land drains and some modern wheel ruts were also recorded.
