The data contained within this dataset are mooring-based acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) observations of meridional and zonal velocity covering the entire water column in a water depth of approximately 1400 metres. The data are a combination of two 75 KHz ADCPs both mounted at 700 metres, one facing upwards and one facing downwards. The ADCPs are mounted on the existing RAPID/MOCHA Western Boundary 1 (WB1) mooring on the slope offshore of Great Abaco, Bahamas. The ADCPs were deployed on November 30, 2015 and recovered March 28, 2017. The MeRMEED project aimed to determine and quantify how the interaction between mesoscale eddies and the steep slope along ocean western boundaries affects the dissipation of mesoscale eddies in these regions. The data were collected as part of the project titled Mechanisms Responsible for Mesoscale Eddy Energy Dissipation (MeRMEED) run by Eleanor Frajka-Williams and Dafydd Gwyn Evans between 2015-2019, and was funded by NERC Discovery Science grant NE/N001745/1.
