Institutional Review Board Protocol 2015 - 2020

This collection archives the Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol and amendments for field studies conducted during the first five years of the Center for Risk-Based Community Resilience Planning, including the Lumberton, NC Longitudinal Field Study. An overarching umbrella protocol was used to coordinate the field study documents and IRB applications across the multiple institutions involved in data collection. The Colorado State University IRB was the lead institution and involved Universities could submit an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Authorization Agreement (IAA) to accept the review of the lead institution. Researchers from the National Institute for Standards and Technology went through the Office of Management (OMB) and Budget to ensure the protocol was compliant with the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA). An overarching protocol was submitted for the Center and an amendment to the protocol was submitted for each individual wave of fieldwork or human subjects research for the Center. All researchers involved in the Lumberton, NC Field Study were trained in human subjects research ethics through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program).
