Traditional Chinese Medicine Twelve Shugan Lidan Granules Can Promote the Liver Function in Hepatolithiasis Patients through the Suppression of Hippo Signaling Pathway

Hepatolithiasis (HL) is an intractable hepatobiliary disease with high recurrence rate, which seriously affect the health of the patients. . Traditional Chinese medicine Twelve Shugan Lidan Granules (TSLG) has been applied in clinical treatment of hepatobiliary diseases including HL for decades, while the underlying mechanism still remains unexplored. Our work demonstrated that Hippo signaling is abnormally activated in HL patients, and the treatment of TSLG can effectively improve the liver function in HL patients after surgery. The underlying mechanism may be related to the down-regulation of SREBP2 and inhibition of Hippo signaling pathway intervened by TSLG, which can prevent the formation of intrahepatic bile duct calculi.
