The scope of viruses under investigation remains significantly narrow compared to the vast diversity of viruses in aquatic environments. To escape from viral-infection exposure risks of water usage, more efforts are needed to prompt the understanding, assessing, and controlling of viruses in human-related water. Here, viral metagenomic analysis was employed to investigate the novel DNA viruses in a river and its connected groundwater.
