The goal of this project is to isolate and describe known and novel bacteria species from mining sites. The chosen sites are iron ore and copper mines in the State of Pará, Brazil. The group is conducting metagenomics studies and in addition isolating and testing the performance of isolates in bioleaching and bioremediation strategies.
