<p><strong>Title</strong>: Parametric Identification of a Servo-Hydraulic Actuator for Real Time Hybrid Simulation (NEES-2013-1220)</p> <p><b>Year Of Curation: </b>2014</p> <p><b>Description: </b>Real-Time Hybrid Simulation (RTHS) is an emerging structural testing technique to evaluate the behavior of large structures with earthquake loading. Using RTHS, researchers are able to physically investigate the complex and critical parts of a structure while simulating the well understood parts with computational substructures. In a typical RTHS setup, servo-hydraulic actuators serve as interfaces between the computational and physical substructures. Therefore, the accuracy of RTHS largely relies on the tracking performance of the actuators. To facilitate system controller design, accurate identification of the system becomes a prerequisite. In this study, a hydraulic actuator identification procedure is proposed, and the critical parameters of the hydraulic actuator are optimally identified using genetic algorithm based on experimental data collected from various specimen mass/stiffness settings. The proposed identification procedure has been validated through RTHS using identified parameter of the actuator to design a controller for the physical substructure.
