Coculture and time course experiment for exploring alternative pathway regulation of algae (Chlamydomonas reinhardtii; strain GR21) with Mortierella fungi, Linnemannia elongata (formerly Mortierella elongata strain NVP 64). Two strains of Linnemannia elongata were tested; the wild type variant containing endobacteria and the cured variant where the endobacteria has been systematically removed. Samples were grown on Tris-Acetate-Phosphate (TAS) medium over the course of two weeks and while not all conditions survived the entirety of the experiment, it appears that combinations of algae x fungi in coculture survived when isolated strains could not.
