An outbreak of USA 300 MRSA among people living with HIV in Japan

USA300, which produces Panton-Valentin leucocidin (PVL), is a predominant community-associated methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strain in the United States. People living with HIV (PLWH) are at an increased risk of USA300 infection and colonization, but the outbreaks of USA300 among specific community have never been reported in Japan. Here, we analyzed PVL-gene-positive MRSA in PLWH at IMSUT hospital. Isolated isolates were analyzed by the whole genome sequencing. The study goal is to show an outbreak of USA300 in PLWH in Tokyo, Japan.
