Conservation of Carnaby's Black Cockatoo in Moora's Important Bird Area

This project will increase the numbers of Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus latirostris) through the creation of forage/breeding habitat through revegetation using native species and placement of artificial nesting hollows around Moora. Seedlings will be offered to local landholders and will include a management agreement and a site preparation/planting guide. The community will be involved in fencing off a 1 hectare remnant of Salmon Gum habitat in Moora and community awareness events (including monitoring of bird counts and nest occupancy, a planting event, and an information day), will be held to increase active participation in protecting this endangered bird species.
