This repository holds data and code for the paper: Krüger, K., Senf, C., Hagge, J., Seidl, R. (2025). Setting aside areas for conservation does not increase disturbances in temperate forests. Journal of Applied Ecology. (doi/10.1111/1365-2664.70036) 

NOTE: This is a static repository, but the project may evolve. See the linked GitHub repository for the latest updates!

All data needed to reproduce the results are available. All other layers can be generated with the code provided in this repository. The vector files delineating set-aside forest areas can only be partially made available due to data usage agreements with the respective regional authorities. For reproducibility, please request the respective layers from the regional authorities, while we provide links to those that are openly accessible.

Empty folders have been set up to follow the directory structure of the scripts.
