We report results from renal cortical transcriptomic analysis of responses to RYGB surgery alone and the combination of RYGB surgery and medical therapy in the Zucker Diabetic Sprague Dawley (ZDSD) rat model of diabetic kidney disease. Overall design: Healthy controls: Sprague Dawley rats. Disease controls: SHAM-operated Zucker Diabetic Sprague Dawley (ZDSD) rats (laparotomy). RYGB-operated ZDSD rats. ZDSD rats treated with RYGB surgery plus medical therapy (ramipril, metformin, rosuvastatin, fenofibrate).
