The research project is based on the idea that plants produce a characteristic pattern of volatile chemical substances (HIPVs) when menaced by phytophagous. The HIPVs are used by the arthropods' natural foes to locate their prey. The aim of the project was the characterization of the profiles of induced HIPVs under the hypothesis of changes in the microbiological structure of the rhizosphere will modify the pattern of induced volatiles.
