Characterization of the complete chloroplast genome of the medicinal shrub Caragana brevifolia Kom. (Fabales: Fabaceae)

<em>Caragana brevifolia</em> Kom. is a species of shrub with high medicinal value, and is mainly distributed in China, India and Pakistan. In this study, the chloroplast genome of <em>C. brevifolia</em> was determined to be 132,359 bp long with an asymmetric nucleotide composition (32.7%A, 16.7%C, 18.0%G and 32.6%T). It encodes a panel of 110 genes (incl. 76 protein-coding, 30 tRNA and four rRNA genes) with one of them being duplicated and 17 of them containing intron(s). Phylogenetic analysis suggested that <em>C. brevifolia</em> was most closely related to the congeners <em>Caragana rosea </em>Turcz. ex Maxim. and <em>Caragana stenophylla</em> Pojark.
