Succesful Aging Data

This data set was created for Journal of Aging&Women magazine article submission.
To determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Successful Aging Inventory developed by Troutman et al. in the USA. This methodological study was conducted between May and September 2018. This Likert-type scale consists of 20 items and five subscales. Data was gathered from 115 elderly people after obtaining ethical approval and official permission from the relevant institutions. The scale was reviewed by six experts for content validity. The construct validity of the scale was performed using confirmatory factor analysis and the factor loads of the items were found to be between .41 and .89. It was found that the correlation coefficient between the score for each item and the scale score was r=.21-.65; the correlation coefficient of each subscale item and the subscale score was r=.57-.90; the correlation coefficient of the subscale score and the scale score was r=.33-.81. There was a statistically significant correlation between these results (p<.001). There was no significant difference between two separate applications of the scale in test-retest reliability analysis (p>.05). This study determined that the Turkish version of the Successful Aging Inventory is valid and reliable and can be used in elderly care research and practice.
