Dataset from "Global Innovation Requires Global Participation: Overcoming Geographic Gaps in Biomaterials Research". Hernandez et al.

Deduplicated author records derived from a bibliometric analysis of 179,771 research and review articles published between 2015 and 2024 across the top 60 biomaterials journals (as ranked by SCImago), related to Figure 1 in "Global Innovation Requires Global Participation: Overcoming Geographic Gaps in Biomaterials Research." The dataset includes 1,174,939 authorship records, with each author counted once per publication, and spans researchers affiliated with institutions in 163 countries. Author country assignments are based on institutional affiliation listed at the time of publication rather than nationality, since nationality is not recorded in bibliographic databases and inferring it from author names introduces systematic errors. Fields include author name, author order, institutional address, country, World Bank region and income classification, journal name, and publication year, among others. This table supports the country- and region-level authorship analyses presented in Figure 1 and discussed in the main text.
