The aim of the study was to develop a cell culture-based live attenuated duck enteritis virus vaccine. So, the field tissue samples were collected from the ducks died during an outbreak of duck plague in Kerala (India) and the virus was isolated by inoculating a 10 percent tissue suspension into 9 day old embryonated duck eggs. The virus was confirmed by PCR amplification of DNA polymerase gene and further processed for molecular characterization by complete genome sequencing.
