Transcriptomic exploration of larvae quality in Eurasian perch (Perca fliviatilis)

The aim of the experiment was to profile Eurasian perch larvae characterized by high and low quality (as determined based on advanced zootechnical evaluation of their performance in controlled conditions) at the level of transcriptome obtained from freshly hatched larvae. For this purpose we have generated 16 unique families (crossed 1 male with 1 female) and reared them during common garden experiment. Next, growth performance and other zootechnical traits (e.g. mortality, swim bladder inflation) were also monitored. In the end transcriptomic profile (constituting current set of data) has been determined using expression profile of freshly hatched larvae using RNA-seq technology.
