Metagenomes from Winam Gulf, Lake Victoria (2022-2023), Lake Simbi (2022-2023), and Lake Naivasha (2022)

Metagenomic samples were collected from various sites in the Winam Gulf, Lake Victoria in May and June of 2022 and 2023. Additionally, opportunistic samples were collected from the shores of Lake Simbi (2022 and 2023) and Lake Naivasha (2022). 31 water samples were collected from a depth of 1 meter using 2.5L Van Dorn sampler. Samples to collect microbial biomass were collected by filtering water through a 0.22-micron PES sterivex cartridge filter (Sigma Aldrich, St. Louis, MO) and preserved in 1.5mL of Zymo DNA/RNA shield (Zymo, Orange, CA) and placed in a -20C freezer.
