This study identifies the microbial communities in discharging effluent and within tank sludge in a conventional septic tank and a novel solar-heated septic tank, both operating over twelve weeks in Thailand. The microbial communities in the effluent and sludge were correlated with environmental parameters to determine if some taxa drive environmental responses, and visa versa.
