Datasets for "Male-dependent resistance to <i>Spiroplasma</i>-induced cytoplasmic incompatibility"

These datasets were generated for the study titled “Male-dependent resistance to <i>Spiroplasma</i>-induced cytoplasmic incompatibility”, investigating the relatedness of <i>Spiroplasma </i>(named <i>sDis</i>) in the <i>Lariophagus distinguendus </i>species complex, the occurrence of cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI) in selected <i>L. distinguendus</i> strains and the effect of host strain and host sex on CI induction.The files contain the data for the crossing experiments conducted with different combinations of <i>Spiroplasma</i>-infected and uninfected males and females from different strains and species belonging to the <i>L. distinguendus</i> species complex to test for the presence of <i>Spiroplasma</i>-induced CI indicated by the reduction or absence of female offspring. Each file corresponds to one set of crossing experiments and gives the origin host strain and the <i>Spiroplasma</i> infection status for each crossing partner, as well as IDs for either individual crossing partners or crossing combinations and additional information used for statistical analyses, where required.
