Studies on below and above-ground microbial diversity of indigenous forest in South Africa

The study aimed at unraveling the bacterial community ecology of indigenous forest ecosystems in Africa. Understanding the mechanisms shaping microbial community taxonomic and functional attributes is essential for predicting soil functional capacity and ecosystem functions. However, little information is available on the contribution, and the interrelationship between below-ground soil ecology, microbial diversity and above-ground biodiversity dynamics in indigenous South African forest biomes.
