Gorilla-SPAC-Wild is a large-scale video dataset for individual re-identification of Western lowland gorillas, designed to non-invasively monitor endangered gorilla populations via automated analysis of camera trap videos. The dataset comprises images extracted from camera trap footage collected in Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Republic of the Congo, covering multiple encounters of 108 individual gorillas across diverse natural environments and lighting conditions. Each gorilla is annotated with high-quality cropped facial images (≥50×50 pixels) and cropped full-body images, enabling comprehensive re-identification analysis. The dataset also includes cross-encounter data, which simulates re-identification challenges arising from real-world appearance variations induced by environmental changes. The dataset is strictly partitioned by individual identities, making it suitable for open-set evaluation scenarios where new individuals frequently emerge. Data extraction and processing utilized YOLOv8-Nano and BoostTrack++, with ground-truth labels provided by primatologists with over 15 years of field experience. The dataset is split into training (70%), validation (15%), test (15%), and single-encounter subsets. Each sample contains the cropped facial image of the gorilla, individual identifier, capture date, video source, frame number, camera trap identifier, and image file path.
