资源简介:

These three MATLAB scripts provide a reproducible workflow for assessing spatial relationships between Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalts (MORBs) and mantle plume hotspots. The input dataset, provided as Supplementary Data 2 (position_MORB.xls), contains MORB coordinates, geochemical groupings, FeO and MgO contents, mantle potential temperature estimates, ridge-segment information, and lithological classification. Plume_Impact_Great_Circles visualizes global MORB distributions and hotspot locations within a shifted geographic reference frame and allows first-order mapping of hotspot influence buffers.Plume_Impact_2 calculates great-circle distances between MORB samples and selected hotspots using the Haversine formulation and classifies samples as hotspot-proximal or distal according to a user-defined radius. The script also supports filtering by MgO content, geochemical group, lithology, and hotspot selection, enabling sensitivity tests on plume influence.Plume_Impact_Graph combines distance-based classification with graphical outputs, including FeO–MgO diagrams and Tp histograms for proximal and distal MORB populations. Together, these scripts were used to explore whether plume proximity affects MORB geochemistry, lithological signatures, and mantle potential temperature distributions. They are intended for comparative, first-order geochemical and spatial analysis rather than high-precision geodetic modelling. All scripts were written in MATLAB syntax compatible with MATLAB R2010b. The workflow ensures traceability between the published geochemical dataset, hotspot-distance calculations, and the figures/statistical comparisons reported in the study.
