The Southeast Florida Regional Travel Characteristics Study (Travel 2000) provided the needed observed travel information for developing planning tools for a three-county region of Southeast Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach). Data collection efforts began in December 1998 and were completed in September 1999. Travel logs were collected for 5,168 households, which included all travel by all residents for one day. In addition, approximately 10,000 bus riders were surveyed, and visitors were surveyed at 79 hotels. Trucking information was gathered from 848 commercial establishments using trucks. Workers were surveyed at seven major employment areas in the three counties.
