Fungi pathogen that affect forest trees

Armillaria sinapina is a fungal pathogen of primarly timber species across North American forests causing root disease. This study provides a first insight into the transcriptome of A. sinapina in order to better understand the molecular mechanism behind Armillaria root disease. This transcriptome contributes to the growing body of resources for studies on fungal pathogens of woody plants, and our results provide useful insights towards identifying specific genes with potential roles associated with pathogenesis and other metabolic functions.
