Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery (RYGB) improves glycemic control in individuals with severe obesity beyond that seen with weight loss alone. We analyse the gut microbiota of obese Zucker fatty rats that experienced similar weight loss from RYGB or from chronic caloric restriction (BWM) as well as from ad libitum fed sham-operated rats (Sham), to identify if the microbiome potentially contribute to mediating this effect of RYGB.
