- This dataset contains EEG recordings acquired using a consumer-grade 8-channel Mentalab Explore system during an eyes-closed experimental paradigm involving internally generated visual imagery of 12 different imagery targets with 2 balanced targets that outweigh the rest in count, externally presented auditory stimuli of these targets and resting periods. Recordings were obtained from a single participant across multiple sessions and organized according to the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) specification for EEG. - The experimental design includes clearly defined cognitive phases, namely instruction, imagery, auditory perception, and post-task baseline segments. The dataset was constructed to examine whether strictly endogenous visual imagery, performed without visual input, produces detectable neural signatures, and to enable comparison with stimulus-driven auditory processing under identical acquisition conditions. - The data are provided in raw continuous form with full event annotations, channel metadata, and acquisition descriptors, supporting reproducible analysis, feature extraction, and neural decoding studies. The dataset is particularly suited for investigations of neural dynamics, alpha-band modulation, EEG feature engineering, and methodological evaluation using low-density consumer EEG hardware.
