资源简介:
This study aimed to assess whether a high-intensive exergame represents an enjoyable training tool for children in the elementary school setting. Furthermore, the study evaluated whether gender, body mass index (BMI), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), fitness level, weekly physical activity level, and general interest in sports moderate perceived enjoyment during the 12-week intervention.Thirty fifth- and six-grade students (10.5±0.7 years; 50% girls) participated in this study. During a baseline assessment, anthropometric measurements and a 20-m shuttle run test were conducted. Throughout the intervention period, the students took part in 15-20-minute exergaming sessions (ES) in the ExerCube twice a week during school hours. Heart rate (HR) was recorded continuously during the ES. Furthermore, perceived enjoyment was assessed after an ES in the second and 12th week of the intervention using the “Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale” (PACES). Additionally, perceived enjoyment was evaluated after a randomly selected physical education (PE) class in week 2.The results reveal that perceived enjoyment was significantly higher during the ES compared to the PE class (p<0.001). None of the covariates showed a significant effect. Furthermore, no significant changes in perceived enjoyment (p=0.164) were detected over time. However, the modest changes over time were significantly affected by BMI (p=0.027), WHtR (p=0.007), and weekly activity level (p=0.016). During the ES, the students reached a mean HR of 87.1±1.9% of their individual maximum HR. In conclusion, the ExerCube provides a promising tool for elementary schools to promote enjoyable moderate-to-vigorous physical activity during the school day.
