Methane Emission Inventory for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

This excel sheet provide details of a methane (CH4) emission inventory for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) developed at the University of Toronto. A bottom up approach was taken to estimate CH4 emissions from five municipalities in the GTA: Toronto, York, Halton, Peel, Durham. Emission categories are Agriculture, Natural Gas, Waste Water and Solid Waste Management, Power Plant and Manufacturing, Wetlands and Transportation. The general approach for estimating emissions is to find the information on activity levels of each facility/activity area and use emission factors to find the annual emissions. In some cases, the emissions from the facility are reported to the Federal or Provincial government, and in those case the emissions were taken from the reported numbers.
