Paracoccus denitrificans Pd1222 was cultivated in two carbon-limited and two nitrate-limited chemostats under denitrifying conditions for more than 800 generations. After every 100 generations, samples were taken for genome re-sequencing and transcriptomics to investigate adaptive changes that lead to more efficient conversions of acetate or nitrate. DNA and cDNA were sequenced with illumina or ion torrent technology and reads were mapped against the reference sequence of P. denitrificans Pd1222.
