Sequencing of the ascomycetous phytopathogenic fungus Fusarium fujikuroi.. Fusarium fujikuroi IMI 58289

Fusarium fujikuroi is known to produce a broad spectrum of secondary metabolites beside gibberellin, of which only some of them could be linked to known gene clusters so far. The genome sequence will enable identification of all genes coding for key-enzymes of secondary metabolites, the polyketide synthases (PKS), non-ribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPS), terpene cyclases (TC) and dimethylallyl diphosphate synthases (DMATS), thereby giving the opportunity of encrypting the hidden biochemical potential of putative beneficial and/or harmful natural products.
