The identification of plant-associative properties of a Vibrio sp. is a major advancement in the eco-evolutionary studies of this genus. In order to understand the host-adaptive traits and mechanisms required for early and late root colonization and plant responses to bacterial colonization, transcript profiles were investigated through a differential gene expression analysis of planktonic cells against 3 and 12 days root-colonized cells. Host plant-targeted transcript sequencing was also done 5 days post inoculation of MSSRF30T, to determine the genetic determinants involved in the mutualistic interaction with a Vibrio sp. in a brackishwater ecosystem.
