ECTOMYC: Gap experiment phase 2

Gaps were cut into existing forest stands (30 m diameter); samples were taken in three Exploratories and three plots per exploratory; in each plot five stumps in the gap, five trees on the edge of the gap and five trees in the stand were sampled. Sampling was done in September/October 2020 (one growth season after gap creation) and in September/October 2022 (three growth phases after gap creation).Rhizosphere soil was taken from European beech roots, shock frozen and stored at -80 C until DNA extraction. The 16 S and ITS region from the DNA was amplified. Sequences were determined using an Illumina MiSeq sequencer.
