This study examines the influence of educational background on the sustainability knowledge of young people, explores the impact of sustainability knowledge on their attitudes, investigates the influence of parental norms on young people's sustainability attitudes, analyzes the effect of young people's attitudes on sustainable household capabilities, and assesses the influence of parental norms on young people's behaviors in sustainable households. This research employs a quantitative design and uses questionnaires as the data collection tool. The respondents are accounting students aged 18 to 25 years old in Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. The data is analyzed using covariance based structural equation modelling (CB-SEM). The findings support the Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior (KAB) theory, indicating that young people's attitudes towards sustainability are influenced by their knowledge, which in turn positively correlates with their sustainable household behaviors. Additionally, parental norms have a positive and significant impact on the sustainable household capabilities of the younger generation but do not affect their attitudes towards sustainability. This study contributes to the development of strategies that empower young people to be more engaged in sustainability through both formal and informal education.
