A time-series ortho-product data set of returning farmland to forest area on the Loess Plateau

This datasets of a time series orthophoto products were generated from 130 scenes GF-1 WFV satellite data of the Returning Farmland to Forest Area on Loess Plateau (Wuqi County and its surrounding areas, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province) from 2013 to 2018. Firstly, landsat-8 full-color orthomosaic images were used as reference images, and image control points were obtained by the automatic image matching method. Secondly, the L1 norm-constrained least square method was used to modify the RPC model with the image. Finally, the original image was orthorectified based on the modified RPC model and DEM data. The image data (spatial resolution is 16 m) includes visible light and near-infrared bands and the plane geometric accuracy is better than 2 pixels. This data set can provide data support for in-depth study of the effects of returning farmland to forest and grassland on the Loess Plateau and its ecological and economic effects.
