Gobiocypris rarus is an endemic cyprinid fish in China, with its maximum lifespan can reach nine years in an artificial breeding environment, indicating an ideal model for aging research. However, whether its aging is related to epigenetic modifications is unclear. Brain samples from 27 female individuals at three different ages were collected for revealing DNA methylation by whole genome bisulfite sequencing, averagely generating nearly 41.3 Gb clean bases per sample after filtering low quality reads, N reads and adaptor sequences. The dataset is essential not only for deciphering the stage specific driver genes of fish brain aging by integrating transcriptomics to construct regulatory networks, but also for constructing fish epigenetic clocks.
