Pathogen receptor proteins such as RLP RLK and NLR play an important role in the recognition of pathogen molecules and in the activation of defence response. They have been deeply studied in several plant kingdom, but much less is known about the means of their elaborate genomic architecture.Recently released pepper and eggplant genome sequences allowed us to identify 1097 pathogen receptor genes in pepper Zunla-1 and 775 in eggplant Nakate-Shinkuro. Comparing them with those previously annotated in tomato (S. lycopersicum Heinz 1706) a different chromosome profile for each species was evidenced. Retrieved genes have been analysed for their tendency to cluster using different methods in order to infer the means of grouping. Orthologous relationships among clustering loci were evidenced, and interesting reshuffling within given loci were observed for each species. The diversification of selected R loci were explored using a target sequencing approach. A high number of gene variants were found as well as different gene order among species and the rearrangements of single protein domains. Recent duplication events clear influence plant genome R genes architecture and diversification.The findings achieved in this work contribute to address several biological questions concerning the evolution of the relationship between genomes of different species. Information gathered could be a used both for basic and applied studies.
