Energy recovery with the production of hydrogen through dark fermentation using agroindustrial wastes has been widely evaluated, however, the adjustment of operational conditions is still an obstacle to conducting a viable process with high H2 production. For this purpose, a Rotational Central Composite Design (DCCR) and response surface methodology (RSM) were applied to obtain a model for optimizing H2 production, based on the citrus peel wastes concentration (CPW) (9.9 a 35.1 gSTV L-1), wastewater concentration (CPWW) (0.3 a 8.7 gCOD L-1) and CaCO3 concentration (0.3 a 7.3 g L-1).
